A journey in the footsteps of the sculptor Moshe Shek




SYNOPSIS
 
UNTO THY LAND is a documentary about a man and a place, a sculptor and the land that nourishes him. It’s a journey of discovery of hidden and unrevealed stories of the civilizations that lived throughout the years at the region of Lachish, Israel, his homeland.

Moshe Shek exposes us to invisible and forgotten caves and landscapes. All made by man in different periods of history, as an untouched human imprint on nature. Even when the sights are familiar, he discovers signs and rhythms in them that an ordinary eye fails to see. He teaches us an original way of observing the landscape and by doing so exposing a cultural dialogue between remnants of ancient civilizations in the biblical land of Israel and the contemporary culture.

Moshe Shek is a sculptor of touch, of close contact with his surroundings; an artist of the interface between culture, archeology and nature. His work always pursues ancient work modes, exploring the affinities between landscape and form, between tools and their designated functions, between the human body and the objects it makes.

It is a different, unique document about the land of Israel, accompanied by original sounds produced by echoes of the artist's sculptural drumbeat and the tune of the nature surrounding him.
